What is the job?
After a big meeting far away from home, or a long wait for a delayed flight, is there anyone more welcoming than a smiling bartender? As the friendly face of our hotel bars, you’ll also be a helpful host, a local expert, and a proud brand ambassador. Whether you’re preparing drinks exactly as our guests want or serving them delicious food, you’ll be devoted to creating relaxing, memorable experiences.
Your day to day
- Creating a warm welcome for every single guest that sets the tone for their experience with us
- Preparing and serving drinks to high standards, and highlight promotions to guests
- Working with your restaurant colleagues to offer a seamless food service
- Setting up your bar – stock up on all the supplies you’ll need, manage your inventory and make sure all your equipment works
- Changing beer kegs
- Looking after your bar – keep it clean and tidy and make sure the alcohol is always secure
- Handling cash and credit transactions
- Looking smart – wear your uniform with pride and follow Crowne Plaza grooming standards
- Following IHG’s safety and food handling procedures at all times
- Be ready to jump into other ad-hoc duties when your colleagues need your help
What we need from you
- The right to work in Australia
- Valid Responsible Service of Alcohol
- Previous experience in a Food & Beverage/Restaurant & Bars related position
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Bilingual or multilingual language skills (advantageous)
- Excellent personal grooming and hygiene standards
- Fitness – you’ll be on your feet most of the day with bending and kneeling. Sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull objects like furniture, crates and kegs up to 23 kg – we have the equipment to support you
- Ability to work in a team and a fast-paced environment and prioritise workloads, as well as assist in supporting the team with other duties as required
- Flexibility to work a rotating roster – nights, weekend and public holiday shifts are all part of the job
- Motivation – your presence will impact your team and our guests; therefore, it will be important to stay motivated and energised
