Young Bartender, who’s passion for new experiences has opened up new doors into the Cocktail world. Friendliness and, how my friends describe it, “The ability to talk to a wall and have the wall answer” is one of my best qualities.
Living in Ireland I have always thought of working part time as a Bartender. Given the opportunity last year to work in a Four Star Hotel was my first step towards what later became my passion. Starting from the very bottom, working as floor staff, picking up glasses and brining drinks to the customers. Watching the bar staff prepare drinks and how they communicate with customers aspired me to try my best and start working behind the bar. I was very quick to learn all the techniques of pouring pints and recognising the different spirits and wines that people may ask for. Come December I was working part time behind the bar, that is when a group of us attended a cocktail training, this has truly been a game changer for me. Having three, four or even six ingredients mixed into a delicious drink and the whole process of preparation has made me think of going professional. It wasn’t until after Christmas when I’ve noticed an advertisement for European Bartending School, I decided to bring my life forward and apply, to see where it takes me. Now after completing the course my eyes have been opened to see the bigger picture, I’m currently working full time as Senior Barman in the same hotel but I’m looking for new experiences somewhere out there in the world.
