Canada 2014 was where I fell in love with the White Russian, also the year I was so nervous behind the bar. I would say yes to every drink that was ordered then run to the back to see what the hell I was just about to do. I’m confident in saying I have come a long way since those google searches, since then I have worked in bars in Australia, New Zealand and Austria with Canada being my first, it was a beautiful, tough journey to where I am today. I now hold managerial experience, countless wine trainings, pure respect for those who enjoy a Negroni or a Boulevardier.I have become the person they run to for what exactly goes into a Zoombie or a Kamikaze. The fear took a hold of my inquisitive nature and it grew and matured into confidence. In the hospitality industry confidence is gold, whether you fake it or you make it. I’m from New Zealand, a long way from home but I am here to travel the world bar tending, I’m excited to meet more people and commerce myself in their culture, maybe learn another language or two. Every journey has an experience and if it wasn’t for the experience I had in Canada, who knows where I would be today. I am always searching for a challenge, an act that encourages improvement, no one is ever one hundred percent perfect, but my goal is to get close.
