I started work pot-washing in a bar at the age of 15. This gave me a foundation to be able to develop valuable and necessary skills needed in a work place; such as enthusiasm and working as a team. My position included table waiting and eventually working behind the bar at 18. Interacting with new people on a daily basis is something I genuinely enjoy being able to do. My first seasonal role was working for PGL as a watersports instructor in France. I taught sailing and other water sports to beginners/novice students. This definitely gave me the skill of how to be an efficient and effective leader. The courses (normally weekly) would involve a lot of patience and also mixing it with a lot of fun and understanding. During this time away I learned how to be a very good listener and organiser. My Winter ski seasons in France have been as a chalet host. This would include looking after 90 guests as a team of nine. Apart from waiting on tables and bar work plus cleaning, the role was to meet the demands of any guests and this would include all local knowledge and also socialising. I enjoyed meeting people and this role taught me how to be responsible, good time keeper and long hours. In between seasons i completed the EBS course and I have worked as a Bar Back at Be-At-One. I was offered a full time position as a bartender but had already committed to a second ski season. My role as a Bar Back was preparing and replacing cocktail ingredients. glass collecting and front of house duties greeting and chatting to customers.
