Hello, I'm Gunilla.
Years of work as a sailor, sailmaker and rigger on big , traditional sailcruisers. Back on land as roommaid, cook and freelance culinary journalist. As Jack of al trades I finally found my passion: bartending!
In 1999 I became partner in a small Dutch writers collective, Meijer & Konow VOF. I developed story concepts, did research and some photography, but I also became a culinary journalist. Almost weekly I wrote about cooking, gastronomy and spirits, mainly for AD Weekend, the weekly magazine of the second largest Dutch newspaper. Writing about the intriguing world of beer, wine and spirits always made my heart beat faster. When after a while I sensed that I wantend to do more hands on work again, it felt only natural to attend the professional bartending course at the European Bartender School in Amsterdam. Here I learned the basics of the shaking business and I made my first steps into the fine art of mixology. These newly acquired skills are bubbling under my skin like a Champagne, dying to be applied in reality. Hire me and I offer you a jigger of good skills, a scoop enthusiasm, 6 barspoons of 'no nonsense let's fix this' mentality and a bottle of life experience.
