When I began bartending at a club in the North of England, I discovered a passion and a drive in me that only grew with added pressure of busy nights and late rushes. Serving, and more importantly, communicating with over 1000 people on a nightly basis made me realise hospitality and bartending was my calling. I loved learning regular faces and orders, matching the energy of my customers and providing fast and efficient services. The responsibilities of later managing the club, such as training new staff and delegating tasks to current staff, dealing with security, key handling and organising stock deliveries, made me even more invested in the industry as the responsibility of the quality of peoples night fell more onto my shoulders, and I took great pride in that. This was only solidified when I encountered cocktails too, where working at a champagne bar combined the busy nature of the club with the more sophisticated side of the industry. Being able to take a little bit more time in making a cocktail than a drink at a club allowed me to tailor a more memorable experience for each customer with a high quality cocktail, some laughs or a friendly conversation while the drinks are being prepared. EBS Kos tied all of this together by reminding me of how much I love bartending and how well I feel I fit the industry. It reignited my passion, making me more confident and ambitious to work behind bars again and please customers on a daily basis, no matter where in the world I am.
